Cerado Ventana Energizes Perforce Conference
Perforce Software amped up its User Conference in Las Vegas this year with a mobile tool powered by Cerado VentanaTM. The application, known as p4pocket, provided attendees with quick cell phone-based access to the conference agenda, attendee lists, twitter feed, and logistical info. It also included an entirely new Ventana feature: a live message board for attendees.
Functional on iPhones, Blackberries, and other devices spotted in pockets around the convention hall, p4pocket connected attendees and made life easier for the organizers. On the conference evaluation, 100% of respondents said they wanted p4pocket at every Perforce User Conference.

Project VRM Update

Project VRM (Vendor Relationship Management) is still hard at work trying to find the best ways to represent consumers in a vendor-driven economy. The team's latest approach is to look at this work in terms of "fourth parties."
In plain english: When we talk about "third party services" we often mean a service that assists a vendor. So let's say a customer is the first party, and the vendor is the second party. The third party provides a service that makes life easier for the second party. What we need now are fourth parties -- services that are on the side of the customer.
The bottom line: "As customers get more power, fourth parties are bound to flourish — and not just because they’re located on the side of the customer and his or her money. Fourth parties will flourish because they will help more intelligence flow into the marketplace, and help the customer both manage and apply that intelligence."

OK Labs Exceeds Annual Goals (with the help of a mischievous little iguana)
OK Labs, a company that creates highly technical products (like virtualization software platforms for embedded systems), broke out of its "geek speak" mold over the last year with both entertaining and profitable results.
Drawing on some help from Cerado, they launched a social media campaign that transformed their existing technical assets into fun and useful community-building platforms. From a new mascot (pictured below in an April Fool's joke), to a clever trade show uniform (a geek humor T-shirt that reads, "I Operate in Privileged Mode"), to a live global tracking system on their CTO, to a video of an engineer explaining technology with an alpaca, the company has been chuckling its way to an accessible human image.
This great sense of humor, when paired with a rejuvenated blog, wiki, and mailing list, has put OK Labs as a front runner in their field, even during an economic downturn. In 2008, they reached their "1,000 Members" goal two months ahead of schedule. And 2009 is looking just as successful.
